An afternoon trip to the Rio de Janeiro zoo during school vacations with my daughters and nieces.
Took the Panasonic G9 with the 45-175 zoom - found it a great range for zoo, and the internal zooming and focusing makes it nice to handle in crowded places while keeping an eye on the kids.

A lot of the enclosures had thick glass/plastic windows take took away a lot of contrast and detail, but I was happy enough with what I was able to save in post-processing (the lion and the snakes are some that the sooc shots were pretty terrible)

Great shots from the zoo trip! The G9 and 45-175 zoom seem like a perfect combo for capturing the action in a crowded place. I especially love the lion and snake pics - nice job salvaging them in post-processing!

DxO Clearview, or it's equivalent in other software, seems to work well in reducing issues with filthy enclosure glass IME 😀

You seem to have found a good method too - lovely set of images. I was actually quite taken by your toucan pic in the album link, so vibrant!

thank for the reply.
Just as a sample here are the embedded camera jpgs from the raws. Not terrible but low contrast and noisier (but the toucan was really colorful in real life, even at almost sunset, in the shade and after glass!)
