Anyone using one of these on an OMD ? Especially on an EM-1 ? I can get a mint one with MMF3 adaptor for about $850 NZ ($600 US). Wondering if I should jump as the new 2.8 is not here yet and will cost $1K more. Its a big saving. Thoughts please?

The main thing is that it's a huge lens. Optically, it's excellent, however, and it will do well on your E-M1. If you don't mind the size and don't need f/2.8, then go for it.

Just mind the purple blobs when it flares on Olympus bodies.

$600 with the MMF-3 sounds like a superb deal, honestly. The MMF alone is $75-100, and the lens itself has sold recently enough on eBay for $700-900.

I don't think I could personally handle the 780g when the Panasonic 7-14mm weighs only 300g, but I think there's likely little doubt that the old Olympus is optically better with less distortion. AF won't be as good, but that's not so big a deal for a UWA.

I occasionally use mine; it's a great lens and $600USD is a very good deal.

I mostly use it for real estate interiors.

For that price, you'd be crazy not to. You could resell for double.

BTW, the AF with the ZD 7-14mm works fine on my E-M1, even indoors.

Just picked this up. Its as described .... blemish free. I deal with a great shop so bought unseen and its a keeper. Its a brute but I'll get a few shots tomorrow. Autofocus is acceptable for an UW lens via the mm3 adapter. Its my only 43 lens so I'll leave the adapter attached permanently.

    7-14.

Did you mean that regarding the Pany 7-14/4 - the OP is referring to the 4/3 7-14. Do they have the same flaring issues??

It'll flare, but not badly. It's a beast of a lens, but very well built. The rrs boem1 or hld7 grip helps to balance it out. I regret selling mine, but it sold for what I paid for it. ($900 used). You got a great deal.

flare does not really concern me ! You couldn't expect a lens with a front element like that not to flare. It will be used indoors mostly anyway.

I've seen some rainbow flares on mine when the sun hits the FE, but no purple blobs, etc.

I will appreciate if anybody that owns this amazing lens could help me.

I have adquired one used 7-14 and it makes a strange (for me) sound when zooming. It is attached to a e-m1 but I think this is not important (the zooming is manual).

You could appreciate the sounds here clearly:

What do you think? Is the way it is? The comments from owners will be really appreciated
