Has anyone used the Zuiko 50mm f2 with an Olympus Pen using either the Panasonic or Olympus 4/3 > m4/3 adapters.

I would be interested to know your impressions of the AF speed. I've heard its slow but a users experiences would be informative.

I'm not really interested in the macro focusing speed, I'm considering the lens more as a general purpose and portrait lens.

Anyone know if there is a difference between the Panasonic and Olympus adapters.

Had this lens (and a very fine lens it is) but AF is slow on 4/3 and a bit slower again on :43:. I sold mine and adapter and bought a PL45 which I am happy with.

You will still get very sharp photos from the 50 but be prepared. Either way it is a lot of money going into a specialised lens so try before you buy.

I've used the PL45 which I thought was an excellent lens. I'm using a 50mm f1.2 Nikon MF at the moment which is terrific but AF is nice in certain conditions, and the extra stop over the PL is useful.

It seems the replies I have received both here and elsewhere indicate the 50mm F2 is very slow. There's a wonderful video on YouTube of it hunting around, making a clattering noise!!

How would rate sharpness on the PL45 to the Zuiko 50mm? That gives me an idea. As indicated I'm not that interested in the macro, just looking for a relatively fast AF prime in the 50mm area.

The latest firmware upgrade improved somewhat the AF speed of this lens on my E-PL1, still not a speed demon by any stretch of imagination.

I'd say the sharpness is pretty close with the ZD 50 probably a shade better. If you are not after macro capability there are a couple of OM primes that may be worth looking at. You will need another adapter (about $30) but the lenses sell from $15 to $150 on eBay. From cheapest to dearest which is also slowest to faster aperture they are 50mm f/1.8; 50mm f1.4 and 55mm f/1.2. They wotld make nice portrait lenses. They are fully manual though.
