Took my EM-5 and a 50-200 ZD Mk 1 on safari to South Africa. After six dawn/dusk drives, these are some of my favourites. I've tried to do things a little unusually, rather than just the standard wildlife shots.

It was my first time with this lens, and I must say I loved it... The colours, the bokeh, and the corner-to-corner sharpness. I used it wide open pretty much the whole way, and cropped in a few of these (though not that much, actually. I do like the 2x crop factor). AF wasn't as bad as promised -- not fast or terribly accurate, but okay. I definitely missed some action shots as a result of the slow AF, particularly in low light. The lionness is a bit soft, and I didn't get a keeper from the male lion because it was too dark to AF (and my MF skills are not great). Anyway, thanks for looking!

As always, full size images and exif available on flickr (add me I add you).

And one last one, not nature, but a personal favourite:

Very nice indeed! I'm really looking forward to taking my 50-200 out to the Serengeti later this year now :)

Great. The 50-200 never lets you down: its a fantastic lens.
  5. Wonderful images, and I love the close-up of the Rhino! I kind of feel like I am also keeping a copy of the 50-200mm precisely to use it on a trip like this one day, but I don't know yet when that day will come.

Amazing work, love the B&W ones.

I see an EM-1 and an EC-14 in your future ;)

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated. I worked hard on the b&w conversions, glad you guys like them!

I actually didn't own a ZD 50-200 before the trip. Bought it precisely for this purpose with the intention to sell it after, and now I feel attached. I fear the EM-1 and EC-14 may have to wait a few more paychecks ;). I love my EM-5 anyway, what a wonderful camera.
