Bonus: While not that impressive, photographically, this video I shot at Seven Islands State Birding Park of a raccoon foraging for mussels was pretty exciting.
Here are my five, all taken locally in Toronto. The most impressive thing for me from July wasn't necessarily the results, but the fact that I got out shooting pretty often despite not taking a vacation or attending a big event.

July was a fantastic month for me! I finally realized a dream and got an EM1.1! Yes, I bought it new, and I'm just so tickled by it! Also, I took 3 days off for my birthday and even though the weather was miserable, I was out each day and tried new things. Here are my favorites from this month:
First of all I went on a hiking trip with a fellow photographer. I had no idea it would turn into a 14km hike (I would not have taken that tripod!). Usually I prefer landscape photos without people in them but here, I felt that having my hiking partner in the picture actually helped to show the depth of that valley.

I am also trying to go on a 24km bike ride each evening (unless we have a storm – I learned the last time that flying branches and trees are a bit too challenging to ride around). One evening I was late in returning, but was blessed to catch this sunset at the last moment. Quite a few people stopped and watched it, which was a wonderful quiet moment that we all shared before each headed off on their way.

Mushroom. Quite a challenge to compose into an interesting photos. Also learned that knee protectors would be great because after kneeling on a forest floor for 10 minutes, it hurts to get back up

Thanks to the weather sealing on the EM1/5 + 12-40 I am out in the rain whenever I can, too. Usually, this little canal only holds a trickle of water but thanks to the torrential rainfall the trickle had swelled into a rapid – but just for about an hour. This was hand-held and I was super happy that I still got a sharp image even though the rain and wind did their best to blur this 1/13s exposure.

10 Minutes! That's how long it took to get this shot. The firefly was super distrustful, the leaf was shaking like crazy in the wind, and the autofocus had trouble finding the tiny insect against a very busy background. But I prevailed and got my shot

Didn't get out as much in July as I had hoped. Here are some shots that I like. The waterfall is a little soft, but it was hand held, so I suppose I can't complain too much.
