Geez, hard to narrow it down. I'm just going to pick the 5 that were either a real lot of work doing something new or that I was real proud of not fing up during the one decent shot I had at getting them.

I like the idea of year end "Best of" threads for different topics. It doesn't make it any easier to choose images as I thought it would.

Here are mine:

Panasonic 100-300 - I had only had the lens for a day or two when I shot this.

Panasonic 100-300 - Not the best image, technically, but the pose is just too cute.

Olympus 60 2.8 - It's not everyday you get to shoot birds with a macro lens. It's also not everyday that you find a hummingbird nest.

Super Takumar 105 2.8 - This one will be on most of my Best of 2017 lists.

There isn't a rating strong enough to reflect the feeling those pictures give. "WOW!!!!" just isn't enough - not by a long shot. Fantastic work (once again).

Thank you, I really appreciate the comment. It was a really great year of photography that I hope to build on over the next 12 months.

The turtle vs gator shot will be a tough one to beat. I spent many many hours at brazos bend hoping for gators eating, but only ever saw them eat fish or a snake. Great shots.

Thanks and it will, hoping to come across it again in better light. Eating a turtle is about the only thing you can really photograph them eating because any thing else quickly becomes just a bloody mess. I do hope to eventually get a shot of a bird catching a baby gator, that would be priceless.............

Great idea for a top 5. I had a great wildlife year with great trips above and below (Maldives, Kenya and Zanzibar), these are 5 of my favorites - not necesarilly the best in terms of sharpness or technique, but the ones that stand out and sort of define the trips for me. All UW take with my E-pl5 and either the 9-18mm and the 60mm and the others with my e-m10 and the 100-300 pana lens.

On one hand, I'm a bit ashamed to admit all of these were in my yard; on the other I should be happy we have them...
