I have been shooting quite a bit this month. Mostly just around the house and in the garden. Being home all day has afforded me to take breaks with my camera in hand.

It was hard to narrow down to 5.

We started out the month going out for regular walks, but have been in pretty much complete lockdown for the last 3 weeks, only leaving the house to buy groceries... I think May we will get out a bit more.

Took yesterday as my entry into a club Facebook competition on the theme of 'Backlit Still Life'. I don't do much still life and don't have much by way of lighting to do it justice, so I thought I'd go macro still life with a bit of photo stacking just for good measure and relied on ye olde sun to provide my back light (and the sky for a reflection).

I had more than my fair share of keepers this month; loads of insects and flowers from three weeks of glorious weather in the garden, and I couldn't make my mind up. So I chose ten and let the kids and Mrs M pick their five favourites from my selection. Their tastes differ very much from mine though, so it was quite a revelation and you'll be happy to know there are not too many insects!

Here are my top 5 for April 2020!

The Bridge to Infiniti. What do you do when your awake at 4 am - I go out to the countryside to see some stars. This one was taken with my Panasonic G9 and a Samyang 16mm f/2 with a Speedbooster.

Taken from the same bridge with same gear as above. I was hoping to see the Milkyway but there was too much lights polution.

The next three photos were taken on a walk in my neighborhood. All taken with the Panasonic G9 and Panasonic 100-300mm f/4-5.6. The deer were too close for me to get a full body shot in most of the photos I came away with.

This is my first top 5 in some time. Been busy with other projects. I suppose if there is a bright spot in being told you can't do anything it's that you'll find something to do. For me it's picking up the camera again. Great images from everyone so far. Visiting this thread has always been worth the trip.

April is always a busy month for a birder. The weather has been cool, but often sunny and the winds mostly light, so I have been able to get out a fair amount. I have lately been working on shooting with more interesting backgrounds, so most of what I chose, I had that in mind.
