    I find this "balancing element" technique to work well; however, it would work better for me if there was more DOF so that the sparseness and simplicity of the older mechanical device in the background creates a much greater juxtaposition to the complexity of the modern electronic instrument in the foreground.

    The title of the thread would pose a greater impact if there are more thematic elements to underscore the differences between the older, analog device and the newer, digital one and how technology, with its ability to resolve to more precise levels, has somehow spawned an impending sense of danger.
