With all the publicity push during the last few weeks celebrating the 50th anniversary of James Bond - I've been digging through and found a compilation album of all the theme songs.

I'm enjoying the new "Skyfall" by Adele, its a bit more in the classic James Bond songs.

So, do you have a favourite James Bond theme song, and maybe share why? ^^

I voted for the Wings version of Live and let die. But the Shirley Bassey songs were both in the running.

The absolute best of course is the two Bond theme songs. I'm a huge Bond fan and those instantly put a smile on my face.

  3. Same.

Live and Let Die, with honourable mentions to Diamonds are Forever and Goldfinger.

I like Carly Simon. It exemplifies the ethos of what it is to be James Bond.
I also really like Sheryl Crow's sultry voice on Tomorrow Never Dies and Tina Turner vocals are awesome on Goldeneye

I really liked the Quantum of Solace theme song. It's Jack White, one of my favorites so I have a huge bias. After that probably You Only Live Twice's theme.

that new "Skyfall" really sounds like classic Bond song....I like it. And Adele is really suited to it.

I cast my vote for "All the Time in the World".

Maybe not the greatest song, but as the last song that Louis Armstrong ever recorded it has a special place. And those shimmering John Barry strings! Also because "On her Majesty's Secret Service" is the best Bond film.

Strings, Horns, and Shirley Bassey is my "classic" James Bond theme song loves - which is probably why I like the new Adele song, its very old-school :)

Thanks for voting so far everyone ^_^

I voted for Moonraker (Bassey) but I listened to Skyfall on iTunes and it really is a classic-style Bond song./

Fun idea for a poll, Jannette!

"Goldfinger" instantly jumped into my brain when I saw the post, so I had to vote that way. I am sure there is a better Bond song, but I love that movie!

I, too, am happy that the Adele song went back to its Bond roots. I love it.

I added another vote to "For Your Eyes Only" purely for sentimental reasons. Whenever I hear that song, memories of my childhood listening to my mother and various aunts sing their heart out just make me smile. I cannot not vote for it.

Like others, I think the 1960's sound of John Barry's orchestra and Shirley Bassey's voice kind of sum up the whole traditional feel of Bond movies. So they're my favorites. I'm not saying none of the others are good, but Adele's "Skyfall" is the best since then.

EDIT: We should have included two songs from the original 1967 "Casino Royale," a Bond spoof starring Peter Sellers and David Niven. The "Casino Royale" theme by Herb Alpert and "The Look of Love" by Dusty Springfield were outstanding, quintessential 60's music.

So am I the ONLY one who can't stand Shirley Bassey's overly dramatic vocals? When I hear that song start I start to look for something to poke out my eardrums.

THey are all classics. Most important for me is James Bond franchise
has survive all these years ever since I was a kid watching my first
James Bond movie. Kind of brings back memories. Glad to see still
works with the new bond in the new movie era of CGI etc.

    AAAAAAAAhhhhhgggghhhhhhh.

The tune is GREAT.....but Bassey sounds like a drag queen being strangled to death. The instrumental is WAY cooler.

Fun thread! I had to go with Jack White -- although QoS is not an iconic movie that song is my favorite.

I found an article that compiles YouTube clips of most of these in once place if anyone is interested in refreshing their memory before (or after) they vote.

Oh yeah! Alpert and the Brass is a great theme, so catchy. Right when I read that I heard it in my head...
