Despite spending two weeks in Norway and seeing incredibly beautiful sights, this is still my favorite. Why? 'cause I got to spend time with a good friend, and we motivated each other to get out of bed at 4am in the morning, drive for one hour, and hike up frozen steps in complete darkness to catch this incredible sunrise in our national park.

My wife and I spent a week at a cabin in the eastern highlands of WV back in July. One particular day, we spent a lot of time out and about, driving from place to place, and it rained much of the day. As evening approached, we were returning to the cabin, and the sun began to peek through the clouds as the weather front moved on. As we were driving through an area of farmland nestled in the hills, the sun lit up the rain soaked fields, and I had to pull over and capture the view. It's simple and not all that colorful, but it's one of my favorites from 2018:

This isn't my best shot, but it's my favourite shot of 2018. This is one of my grandchildren, grandson Louis, he suffers with learning difficulties and often has meltdowns when confronted with crowds and situations he's unfamiliar with, he's autistic too. I took him hiking, he's relaxed in open spaces. At the end of a promontory there's a Victorian fort, which was also utilised in WW2, he really enjoyed exploring the area. I asked him to look at me from a window frame.

I'm new to the forum so please be gentle. This shot is my favourite from 2018, it reminds me of a great day out on Handa Island just off the north west coast of Scotland back in May.

My best images are from work, as it should be, and can't be posted here. And, of what I can post, much is already up. This is, however, a grab as the sun dropped out of clouds towards just after the end of one of 40 something workdays in a row. Nothing much to it, just a focus stack of some nice light on a particular bush amidst 50M hectares of sagebrush (Artemisia cana ssp bolanderi in this case).

I like to use full frame for my landscape photography, but this evening in the summer of 2018 i came by this wonderfull light on the smal danish island Læsø only with my Gh4 and the 12-35 mm 2.8.
However now the photograph is on my wall in a 100 x 70 cm Hahnemule print and is my photo of the year 2018.

I love this site and am always inspired by the great pictures on display.
I can’t pick a pic that I consider my best, but this off the cuff snap of my son is probably my favourite.
Fittingly, with my favourite lens, the Olympus 75mm 1.8
