This is a M42 screw mount lens and was built by Tomioka. This is the Yashica Yashinon branded version and a Mamiya/Sekor branded version was also built by Tomioka. It is all metal with the lens recessed in quite a bit in so there is no need for a hood. Also this is a preset lens, meaning there are 2 rings on the front of the lens. One ring(inner) is for setting the aperture you want and the outer ring is for opening up the aperture for focusing and then twisting it down to until it stops at the aperture you set with the inner ring.

The lens has 6 blades for the aperture and can go 1:1 macro. The focusing ring from it's minimum focusing distance of about 8.6 inches to 12 inches is about 190 degrees of turn. To go from 5 feet to infinity you turn about 8 degrees.

Below are some examples from F/2.8-8.0. I didn't go any farther as I just wanted to get some examples. The bokeh is kind of interesting. Some people like it others don't. Also, if you get the lens in a certain way, the flare actually come out hexagonal. I've got an example of it below.

It is a great lens and would definitely recommend it. It is one of the more pricier M42 mount lens though, since it has a big following. I got lucky and found this at a thrift shop so be on the look out for this or the Mamiya/Sekor version as they're out there.
