Buy & Sell Listing - Want to Buy
    Selling
WTB Olympus or Panasonic m4/3 with lens

Location
USA

Description
Husband's Panasonic FZ18 died. Would love to find inexpensive camera for him. I had the Panasonic G1, loved it, easy camera and thinking about something along this line would be great. He's not that into photography, so just need a camera that is in really good working condition and has a lens, budget is limited. Also might be interested in an inexpensive Nikon DSLR because I have a Nikon 18-200 lens which I haven't used since I got my 16-85. Have 100% feed back on ebay under sunsetandrainbows. Prefer email:

If you need a viewfinder and a lens for sub-$200 in Micro 4/3, you're probably limited to a Panny G1 or G2. Which are fine, but that's probably the extent of your options.

OTOH, there are lots of Nikon DSLR bodies you can get for that range - given that you already have a $500 lens you can put on it. But of course, they'll be a lot bigger and heavier kits.

You should be able to find yourself something like a D40 for $200 or so, maybe even a D80 if you get lucky. :)

I have G5 that I might want to let go since I pre-ordered E-M1, but it is above the price range.

That price needs to include a lens if it's M4/3. Even the old kit lens is worth $60-70 or so.

So really, the OP is looking for a body with a VF for ~$150 or less. Pretty sure that's a G1 or G2 only.

I already suggested to the OP in an e-mail that if they went the Nikon route, they should probably try to stretch a slight bit for a D5000. IMHO, it's better than a D80, and can definitely be had for under $250, maybe just a hair above $200 with careful shopping, and it's a clear step up over anything else they can get for less.

Thanks everybody, G1 is sort of what I was looking for, had the D70, 80, 90, and 7000 now the 7100, which I love, Pen1, Pen2, loved them all and also have an E-M1 on order and just bought a used 12-50 Olympus lens because all my m4/3 lenses are long gone. Actually hoping I can find something for my husband so I can try the lens....yes, definitely an ulterior motive : ) If only the E-M1 is what I'm hoping, I will sell all my Nikon equipment because I really do want to reduce the weight but, at this point, loving my Nikon D7100. Admit, I like to change cameras, it's my addiction.

Pretty sure that there are no M4/3 camera + lens + viewfinder combos for $200 or less at Cameta. The cheapest Olympus viewfinder (the VF-3) alone is over $100. And Cameta doesn't sell refurbs of the Panasonic cameras with integrated EVFs.

If you have a Nikon lens already just find a cheap body. Like an old 3100 or 5100. Best bet. Nothing in the m43 that you can get that cheap with a VF.
