Recently spent a little time on the Yellowstone River... in Livingston, Montana. These are from the 7-14.

  2. Love those first three shots, Don. Were these taken on the E-M5? I see some wild purple fringing on the edge of the first truck shot!

I really enjoyed the PP on these shots. It has punch without being overcooked.

Phenomenal shots, Don. The last one is really stunning - would love to see a big print.

Really great shots. I'm particularly drawn to the last two. I love the energy of the moving water!

    Don,

I love the first rapids, trucks 1+3 and the last landscape. Amazing shooting.

  12. That river water looks cold, very cold.

    Nice set, thanks.

    Great shots as always!

In the first photo, on the left side the mountain face where you can see light colored rock, it looks a little odd. Is that from a high f-stop or was that area originally overexposed?

I'm looking forward to try out the E-M5's tilt screen with the 7-14 for low-level shots!

dre_tech... the clouds in the distance were creating uneven illumination on the distant mountains (parts were in full sun, parts were in cloud-shade).

I did use the tilt screen for the practically in-the-water images. The river was very cold and moving very quickly... beautiful, but dangerous.

Liv... no fishing gear with me...

Very cool Don, love the look @ 7mm. Pretty sharp at such a close angle.

Very nice Don. I find the overall balance between sky and land distracting in some of the images. With each having a similar range of tonal values it is like the Spector 'wall of sound' but this doesn't quite work in terms of tone and colour for me. I can't help but think the stormy sky in the last image should be darker and moodier (and perhaps tonally smoother) to counterbalance the brighter and more contrasty rendering of the land (or visa versa).

Really fine shots - no wonder you love the lens so much. It makes a great combination with the OM-D and you certainly use it to the fullest. :2thumbs:

If I have overstepped the mark when I should have just said 'great image' I apologise, just trying to be constructive rather than offering a bland high five.
