Sorry if this has been asked.

I'm new to the M43 system.
Planning to buy the E-M5 with kit lens (12-50mm) as my first M43 camera.

The shop here will give me a free MMF-3 adapter.

I found a used 4/3 lens on sale in one shop here for $100...

OLYMPUS ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 40-150mm F4.0-5.6

My question is if this lens will focus automatically on the E-M5?
Or do I need to focus manually?

If this lens focus automatically, how's the speed?
I hope AF speed is tolerable.

Also, what can you say about this lens. Is it a good buy for $100?
Or should I buy other lens?
(NOTE: The 20mm f1.7 lens is on my To-Buy list. I just want to buy a cheap usable 4/3 lens so that i can use the free MMF-3 adapter.)

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Auto focus will work but it will be slow since that lens is optimized for phase detection focusing. I don't have that lens but it's know for being good.
You can buy the m4/3 version of that lens that sells for almost the same price of the adapter so you won´t loose money.

It will auto focus quite slowly....and there is a micro four thirds version of that lens. Sometimes when you are walking around with a hammer, everything looks like a nail. I'm sure someone will buy that adapter from you....you don't NEED to find a lens to put in it.

Here's a chart of the lens line-up. Four Thirds | Four Thirds | Four Thirds | Chart(Lenses) Find something that appeals to you...or sell off your adapter.

The best lens from 4/3 system which can AF faster is Olympus 14-54 mm 2.8-3.5MrkII

The original post is looking for a lens to put into his adapter. If someone gave me a set of tires I wouldn't immediately start looking to buy a car to go with them.

I was just suggesting that he look at the line-up of four thirds lenses and see if there really is one that he needs (and one that either performs better or is significantly cheaper) rather than just buying something all willy-nilly because he has an adapter.

Thank you very much for all your reply.

Sorry for my limited knowledge in M43 system. I'm not so much familiar with the lens line up.

I guess I will just sell the adapter and add the money to buy some native lenses. I'm thinking of 45mm F1.8 (since I'll be getting the 20mm F1.7). What do you think?

I've read so many good reviews for these two lenses.

That is a MUCH better idea, IMHO.
