Whoops … spotted – Yallingup, Western Australia by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

Western grey kangaroos (Macropus fuliginosus) in the back paddock. Shot from the veranda overlooking the neighbour’s paddock where the kangaroos roam due to the abundant feed: Yallingup, Western Australia.6

A cautionary tale ...

In 2018 my wife Jan and I journeyed from Australia to Namibia (to focus on landscapes) and Botswana (to focus on wildlife). We had to pack very light (max. 10 kilos each in soft-pack suitcases because we had to do a lot of travel in very small planes) so we ummed and aahed about taking any other lenses in addition to my Olympus 12-40mm PRO (mounted on an Olympus E-M5ii) and Jan's Olympus 14-42mm EZ (mounted on an Olympus E-M10). The following three images (each one straight out of the camera) tell a story.

Yes - we ended up sacrificing some clothing in order to take some (inexpensive) zoom lenses and I even took the trusty old Lumix G2 and, you know what, I'm very glad we did! We were able to get some "keepers" which would have not been possible otherwise.

The above photos were chosen not because of any inherent quality therein but to simply illustrate a (rather obvious) point. However, after this experience it's quite possible that a fancy Olympus PRO zoom could appear in my Christmas stocking if I drop enough hints!

Cheers.
Beautiful!

Here are half a dozen snaps taken in Botswana in 2018 and used as part of a slideshow presentation (please forgive the corny captions on the images). Most of these have been quite heavily cropped.
As I've mentioned in a previous post on this thread, if you're going on this type of safari you do need to take lenses with a decent reach, even if they are quite cheap kit ones.

I got close enough to take this with my Olympus E-M5ii and Olympus 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO lens at 40mm

Cheers.

Finally started going through some pics I took on a trip to Botswana in 2018
This one is from a place called Senyati - a campsite that has a waterhole and a "bunker" for photographers nearby - in fact very close.

Meeting of the Body Corporate of the apartment-owners at a block in Manly at Sydney Australia.

Sulphur-crested cockatoos have been known to live up to 80 years in captivity - they can be raucous and are a pest in urban areas because they can destroy timber decking, wood panelling and wooden window-frames and strip a fruit tree in minutes (simply because they can!).

Cheers.
