Walking down a boardwalk in Traverse City this evening I ran across these two. The first one looks like Momma Mink...

View attachment 761808Same young one. Not quite sure what is behind it's ear. These are heavy crops so there is a limit to how much resolution is left to discern what it is. In the brief moment I saw the mother I thought I saw something about the same color behind one of her ears. I'm half wondering if they are some type of tag. Of course the other option would be a tick if that's what color they turned after being submerged. If anyone out there has any idea, I'd be interested to hear.

A chance encounter in the Hluluwe-Umfolozi reserve in kwaZulu-Natal, South-Africa: a cheetah with its prey (a kudu).

Pronghorns, the second fastest mammal next to Cheetah. I see them all the time, but they always run away really fast whenever I pull over my car, so I can't take close-up pictures. But this time, I slowed down while opening window, pulled over, and several of them were looking at me before starting to run. So I was able to get some portrait shots of this girl (guy?). Didn't have time to change aperture, so the focus looks like on the neck.

Not the friendly fellers that tourists see in the outer burbs but this is part of a wild mob living in my local wetlands and you have to steer well clear of the big bucks. Stalked them for over an hour hoping to get a shot of the Joeys head sticking out the mother's pouch but only managed a foot ☹ They tend to sit on the edge of the woodland but disturb them and they're off into the bush so shots are invariably in shadow or dappled light. I've taken hundreds of shots of them over the years but never been fully satisfied with any of them.....................just one shot with a catchlight in their eyes would do me!
