Why no AF tracking in monochrome mode?

Why is it that I can't get the focus tracking to work whenever I select monochrome mode or any filter containing monochrome settings? It's the same on both GX7 and G7.. :(
Is the camera lacking some feature to perform AF tracking in monochrome or what?
  2. Probably because of something like Monochrome being an art filter, and art filters take too much processing power...

ALL other filters and picture modes works with tracking..!
  4. That's pretty weird then... I'd be interested in an explanation from Panasonic.

Back when cameras shot black & white film, there was no such thing as autofocus tracking. It's designed to enhance the authenticity of the shooting experience.

I just tried it with my GX8 and it doesn't track when set to Mono mode. I didn't bother trying art filters, because they work very differently than modes. The tracking algorithm obviously uses color information to identify, and lock on to a subject.
