Who needs one gigapixel camera? It's coming ..:)

    It's neat, no doubt. I enjoy scanning Gigapixel imagery, but it is somewhat limited to mostly static scenes. Movement screws things up because the photos are taken at different times. While I was unaware that this was being developed, it had occured to me that a camera array would solve this problem. It also occured to me tyat it would be far too bulky and expensive to be practical. Maybe someday.

    What do you mean, bulky? This thing is only half a meter thick. Unfortunately they don't have this DARPA-cam on CameraSize.com yet, but I think that's roughly the size of a Nikon D800. :wink:

    aren't the scanner backs gigapixel equivelant? or at least near it?

    Aah the days are coming where you'll need to upload to forums to shows a pic for an hour. caaaan't wait. still pretty cool though.
