    Hi ya
I have a GX1 _20mm pancake and olympus 45mm, i am looking for a std zoom lens to use most of the time. The 12-35mm is out of my price range so i'm looking at either 14-45mm or 14-140mm. Can anyone help_which is best?

I think that te Zuiko 14-42 II is the most balanced in quality/size/price

14-45 is a bit more sharp but slowly and bigger

I agree with this too . I have them Both, and I will tell you that the M.Zuiko is also smaller and lighter especially when collapsed.

If you can live with 42 or 45mm max then the choice comes down to better IQ for a few more $ and more size and weight. Some folks hardly seem to notice much difference in IQ; some really find the 14-45 to be in another class.

On the other hand, if you can really benefit from the reach of the 14-140 I'd say there isn't much reason not to go that way. IQ is still very good imo, but you obviously gain size and cost.

Compromise is 14-42 + 45-200. You get nice light all around standard zoom + even more on the tele end when/if you need it. Cost of the pair would be < 14-140.

Somewhat related, how do people rate the Panasonic Lumix Vario PZ 14-42mm? I have read reports of "bad copies" but some people have not experienced that problem, apparently. Assuming one has a good copy of the PZ, would it be equal to the Zuiko 14-42 II in terms of overall IQ?

Thanks for this; very nice pictures. Can't see much IQ difference between the Panny PZ and the Zuiko 14-42 II.
