I've put a set of 8 pictures on flickr:-
    4 m4/3 camera comparison - a set on Flickr
    Taken with 4 different cameras - Olympus E-PL1 & E-P2, Panasonic GF1 and GH1.

All at identical settings - both in-camera jpgs and dcraw conversions. Anyone think they can spot which is which? Flickr has them at full size.

I'm going to put the "answers" on my blog on Saturday.

Hopefully I've removed all the exif data - if not please keep it to yourself.

There are two shots labeled "camera-3-JPG", one of which should be "camera-1-RAW" if I'm not mistaken.

A Fiesta Red Fender Strat. You are a man of impeccable taste! (I own a '62 reissue that looks just like yours).

I think we need to make sure these are all labeled correctly before we start guessing.

No its just my ineptitude I'm afraid, It should read GH1. Likewise on the wrongly titled picture.

More water, less whisky I think!!

No. The problem is clearly related to there being any water at all.

I think it would be a lot more fun and easier to do if you posted the four (or even eight) photos here...

Here are my guesses (I own an E-P2 and a GF1 myself):

    Camera 1 - GH1
    Camera 2 - E-P2
    Camera 3 - GF1
    Camera 4 - EPL1

    How'd I do?

IMHO, it would be more interesting to do the same test with, say, a GF1 vs. D3 vs. G12 vs 7D

So, how many got it right, and what does that say about the "inferior" panasonic jpg engine?

A lot of people looked, but not many offered an answer.

Your point is well made. I've personally never subscribed to the "Olympus jpgs are better" point of view. All the cameras jpg output can be altered to taste anyway.

I use raw mostly and of the 4 cameras I had (two now sold) the GH1 certainly has the better sensor, in terms of noise and sharpness. The other three were pretty similar. Indeed the E-P2 and E-PL1 are virtually identical.

This was a one off comparison but its exactly mirrors the results I've been getting using the cameras in the "real world".

I bought a couple of the cameras to get a good price on the lenses that were bundled with them and I always intended to keep only two of them. This was a final test to see what I wanted to keep and I took a huge number of similar shots at varying apertures and with different lenses etc. which were all pretty similar to the ones I posted. Obviously different batches of the same camera can differ slightly but these were the ones I had and therefore had to choose between them.

Of all of them I use the GH1 the most & that will continue, at least until my GH2 arrives. (Now delayed in Europe I gather)

Yes, I was surprised at how much better the GH1 was than the others
