any news when it will be available?
Officially, by the end of 2012. Unofficially, people seem to be thinking during the summer. British photographer Damien McGillicuddy had one for testing recently, so production doesn't seem too far off.
Any rumors on the MSRP?
$699, with a street price of $599.
(A rumor I just made up :smile
Haha... That would sell like hotcakes for that price IMO....
I have one.
No. But I'd be seriously surprised if it was less than the 12/2. Olympus believes they can charge $800+ for fastish primes with good build quality, and the 75/1.8 fits that mould.
We're still talking about hotcakes here, right?
HA! Coffee just shot out of my nose! Thanks Ned!...Maybe I can use this to leave the office early today and go take some pictures Everyone is staring at me like I just threw up from the nostrals...lol
ha ha ha
You funny guy. The way Oly is knocking them out of the park this lens will make it to our hot little hands some time next year.
One thing I can say is this.
I'd MUCH rather have the 75mm than the OMD EM-5
I'm waiting for the 75mm f1.8 to come out too. I'm thinking of deferring the money I was going to spend on the OM-D and instead put it towards the 75mm if the reviews of the lens are good.
I'll then pick up the next OM-D body released hopefully next year as Olympus is expected to come out with a 'pro' body by then (that's why they have been going out of their way to say that the new OM-D is not the pro body).
Im more interested in their new macro lens
I need the E-M5 for the IBIS because I do not want to use the 75 on my G3 if I can help it, haha
I can't wait till the 150mm tele is released!!!
why i'm eagerly waiting for this? this lens will probably fulfill my telephoto needs and i think would fit in nicely to my lens kit, don't you think?
Probably wishful thinking, but a black version of the 75/1.8 would sure look nice on my black E-M5!
Judging by where Olympus is with the 12 & 45, then yeah - I'd say yep, don't get your hopes up....
Is the 75/1.8 a zoom lens or another prime?
