I Agree 100 % with Sameer
It is a VERY under rated lens . An Excellent Bang for the Buck

  • Keep the shutter speed fast enough. Hand Held at 300mm I use 1/800
  • Clicking the shutter with a gentle action, rather than jabbing it
  • Two handed holding technique. Right hand on the grip, left under the lens.
  • Bracing the camera against the forehead.
  • Breathing out slowly while clicking the shutter.
  • No shooting in the first 30-60 minutes after a cup of coffee :)

  • Another tip is move your legs slightly apart
  • Keep your arms together when shooting resting them on your body
A Stilt at 300mm Shutter 1/800 Hand Held

I bought the Olympus 40-150 f2.8 and an E-M1. The E-M1 did not arrive before leaving town so have been using the 40-150 with my E-M5 while in Florida.

I used a drop of glue and the bracket the holds the eye cup ended up breaking! Currently my E-M1s have a slim piece of gaffers tape that overlaps the body and eye cup and goes almost all they around the eye cup. !I have not lost one since sometime in December.

I am also not a fan of the standard eye cup and went to "improved" the shape and covered it with Sugru (silicon putty that hardens like rubber). Surprisingly Sugru does stick well despite a very thin "rim" was created and has been on for more than a year while providing a much better seal from bright light (we have plenty of that Downunder)
I find that a tight (maybe a bit too small) camera bag helps dislodge that eye cup...
