What Olympus camera did you start with?

E-PL1 for me. Loved the colors on that one, especially blue skies.

Here it is, with some manual lens options that I sold much too cheaply. Pardon my early foray into creative editing...

E-PM1 and 14-42 IIR.

My wife and I were headed out on a road trip and the smallest thing I had was at pair of D700s and a 28-105 AF-D. I found a refurbished kit cheap. The E-PM1 and 14-42 were lighter than the 28-105 alone. I was hooked. I had played with the E-M5.1 and loved the feel, but it was too much $$ at the time to start with.

Here' a link to a gallery from the trip:

My first Olympus camera was the E 520 with the two kit lenses and was my first camera with interchangeable lenses. With that camera, It was a great tool for me to begin to learn about photography. Prior to that, my first digital camera was a Sony Cybershot point and shoot followed by a Panasonic FZ-20 bridge camera.

Sorry, I'm yet to get an Olympus camera (I think my wife still has the Olympus trip she used going round the world somewhere)
For real photography I started with a Pentax ME back in the 1980s, switched to digital with some useless compacts (1990s) & later a Pentax DSLR (2010), then went increasingly mirrorless with the Panasonic G1 (2013)...
I do have five Olympus lenses (mostly in MFT mount), which is more than I have Panasonic lenses.

There are a few features on some of the later Olympus bodies that I'd like, but nothing useful enough to justify upgrading my G5 for a few years yet.

Learned the basics on my father’s Olympus 35sp rangefinder starting about 1980 (Age 9). When I was a teenager, I bought an OM-2S. With the exception of a short affair with a Konica-Minolta A2, I’ve used Olympus ever since.

My first Olympus was an XA and it was used as my travel camera when riding my motorcycles. Had a piece of rawhide attached to the wrist strap which served as a neck strap so pictures could be taken while riding, worked out very well. Have had several since then and presently use a EM5.1, an EM1.1 and a Pen F.

My first one was the original E-M5 with the 17mm pancake. I bought it used locally and was in love with it except for the mushy buttons! It was such a big step up from the Samsung NX10 that I had bought to sample photography with at a bargain price.
