Hey everyone. What do you do?

What do you do at work? Take a picture of what you do at work and show us. I want to see how awesome we can get this thread. So tell us what you do and take a picture of it. C'mon everyone, join in...

I'm a qualified Diesel Mechanic. I work on everything from whipper snippers to heavy earth moving equipment. Today I pulled the Differential out of this Ingersol Rand Spray Coupe and stripped it down.

Its extremely hard to take pictures of what I do. I'm an embedded software engineer. I could make some pictures of code, LOL. I'll find something!

  3. I don't think that those of us who drive computers for a living are going to be able to come up with some pictures as impressive as yours Brady, so we'll just have to try to be creative about it.

This is a repost of a picture I made about one year ago. Since then I left the company I was working for, and started my own consulting job, but the basis is the same : I do back office work in the paralegal field. Coffee is my main operational cost.

    Hi Brady,
As someone who is now retired I suppose I could have taken a photograph of me with my feet up and resting, instead I've cheated somewhat and borrowed 2 photographs taken from the web showing the size and type of equipment I used to work with.
I was an electrical engineer at Hinkley Point B Nuclear power station in Somerset. As such I spent most of my time an and around 660 MW steam turbines and generators.

This is the outside casing of a 660 MW generator

This is what's inside. The white polythene pipes actually carry distilled water that flows inside the electrical conductors to help keep them cool. The "hole" down the middle accommodates the electrical rotor that weighs about 75 tons. The whole casing is full of pure hydrogen when the unit is in operation, again that acts as a cooling medium, much more efficient and with lower windage losses than air.
The complete turbine/generator weighs about 2,500 tons and with the condensers full of seawater it weighs about 4,500 tons.

Today I volunteer on a local nature reserve. I'm now entering my busy phase monitoring breeding birds, butterflies, moths and dragonflies, a big difference from my former working environment.

Excellent work. This is already an interesting read. I enjoy finding out what people do and I've already discovered there are jobs here I didn't even knew existed. Thankyou for each reply so far:smile:

Pictures of Code! Yes, put it in.

Nic being creative is exactly what you can do. I've seen those pictures of yours in the Camera P*rn thread. I'll be waiting.

And if you showed us all, you'd havta kills us all. That would be bad. How about taking a picture of one of the vehicles you put the LED lights on. Doesn't have to show the lights but something similar to what you work on.

I reckon you would have a nice pen you can show. A massively intelligent brain and A pen I'm a-thinking you would use quite a bit. It's a bit hard to photograph your brain but a pen you could.

Umm. I actually can't think of what you could take a photo of either. There must be something surely.

Ron, just the thing we need. A picture of the outside of the courthouse. That would put your highfalutin job in focus.

Everyone you've don a good job. But we need those empty spaces with a picture in 'em.

Mostly we build to design spec for contracts, the Military does the install, or the manufacturer of the vehicle itself installs on new vehicles. MRAP, HMMWV, MLRS, M-ATV, plus HIMARS, some helicopters, aircraft, and aircraft carriers. Soldiers carry our handhelds, the Phantom Warrior TLS, and the Phantom Hawk. There is a little bit of public info at Welcome to Phantom Products, Incorporated - Home of the Phantom Warrior.

    Great Thread Brady..

My business is comprised of three practices.

I hold my master license in Data / Telephone / Video / Sound

Design and installation of high speed networks, hence "Fastnetworks"
Installation and programing of Avaya / Nortel PBX systems BCm etc.
Support of medium sized Macintosh based companies.

Here are two recent installations at Macintosh based businesses. In these instances I get the full treatment. Network install, Mac Server Install and maintenance and PBX.
