It seems everything I read lately is dystopian fiction, and that's just going through the election flyers in my mailbox. ;-) In that spirit, however, I'm reading "Wool".

About to start Slaughterhouse 5.

For anyone who hasn't read dystopian books, I highly suggest it.
Begin with the classics:
- Brave New World
- Nineteen Eighty Four
- We

- Fahrenheit 451
- Animal Farm
etc.

I don't read many fiction books but all the ones listed I actually did finish.... they are great! Back in the day I was a big fan of Dean Koontz and Steven King (as well as Richard Bachman). My favorite short story was "Typewriter of the gods". Needful Things and Dark Half.

I've just finished Rich Dad Poor Dad from the perspective of a skeptic / critic. It provides good insight but Eh... it paints a rosy capitalistic picture in a evangelistic tone. Filter all that B.S. out and there is some good content for the financial beginner.

Probably not what most here would consider joyful reading but I've been working my way through Wealth of Nations. I still wonder today why its not required reading in the High school classroom.

Just finished the feel-good read "The Happiest Refugee" by Anh Do, great little pick me ups and was extremely relevant to my family. Really enjoyed it . Unfortunately on my kindle... so I must get a pic of the cover

I read Slaughterhouse Five one night before a Chem exam in college. That's when I read novels most--the nights before big exams. The ultimate procrastinator.

I'm reading a well-thumbed copy of "For Whom the Bell Tolls" to gain a greater understanding of Hemingway's writing style.

No great photograph, since I read it as an e-book, but this was one of the most emotionally involving books I've read in a long time, though in a subtle way that builds gradually. It's written a style that's unique in my experience. It is, at the same time, both disturbing and uplifting. An impressive work of fiction, though perhaps not to everyone's taste. It's categorized as science fiction, but don't let that turn you off. It's about as far from Star Wars as a story could be.

Oh, I'd avoid reading any reviews that might clue you in to the basic plot or story line. The book reveals its secrets gradually, and is more powerful for it.

Lol. I don't remember my grade. On other nights before big tests I read Macbeth, All Quiet On The Western Front, Animal Farm...I did graduate, but don't remember grades.
