When I first considered this theme, it seemed a little specific. The more I thought about it though, the more I realized it could mean more than shallow depth-of-field subject isolation (although, like most everyone else, I love that technique). The subject could be something or someone that appears isolated by way of body language, facial expression, color, lack of surroundings, etc. Or it could be that the photo's setting itself communicates isolation (e.g. wide-open prairie).

Since we're a few days late getting this week going, maybe we can go from Friday-Wednesday, then Week #7 could be Thursday-Tuesday, and Week #8 could get back to the normal Wednesday-Monday timeframe. Thoughts?

Anyway, here's a couple examples to help you get started.

    Weekly Challenge Rules

The challenge will be open from Wednesday through Monday, with a winner announced on Tuesday. Everyone gets to submit 2 photos shot with an m4/3 camera in line with the chosen theme. The winner of the previous challenge gets to choose the new theme (topics can be anything under the sun) and serves as the judge for his/her weekly challenge.

For obvious purposes, the judge is disqualified from participating in his/her own weekly challenge. Instead, he/she should post up to 2 photos as examples to start out the challenge. Should the winner not be able to commit to being the next judge, the responsibility is passed on to the runner-up.

Contests are scheduled to open on Wednesday of each week. On Tuesday of the following week, the judge will name a blue ribbon winner, a runner-up, and 1 honorable mention. As we all know, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. We may not all agree with the chosen winners; the judge is encouraged (but not required) to state what criteria he used to decide on a winner.

To make sure we don't break any Mu43 rules/regulations, by participating in this thread you are allowing the judge to repost your image for the sole purpose of announcing the winners for the Weekly Challenge.

Using a strobe and camera setting I got the two isolated photos.

In the first by controlling the shutter speed i got the white wall to appear black.

By shooting the dog using a side strobe, i managed to darken most of the background.

I'll upload it to a site other than Facebook as they do horrible things to resolution on there. Shoot from the other day, my friend and his girlfriend. We found the gun lying on the ground and he picked it up

    Cool theme.

I thought I would go with some of the more isolated places I've seen around the world:
