My friend has a small tribe of Welsh ponies, and she invited me to visit while she fed them at sunset. As I'd taken a lens for birding, I had to keep well back - which actually suits me fine!

I said goodbye to a friend and neighbour today, as she moves to a new area. As a gift, I wanted to make an environmental portrait of her with her horses, and tried out my nused LX100m2 with flash. It's perhaps not a flattering photo, but this was my friend without artifice: weary from everything she's had to organise, worn down with pain, sad to be leaving her community, and probably anxious about the future.
I didn't nail focus, but I liked this one best for the composition and her expression.
