    All members, please be advised:

All the Amazon link spam has been coming from one person who has registered many usernames (DonRon, sissi, susanb, CLoe). We are taking many measures to deal with this, but we are likely to see some more spam before the situation is resolved. In the meanwhile, we ask that you do not engage the spammer, even if he posts in this thread.

If you see someone posting spam Amazon links, please do not reply or react to them in any way. Just click on the "Report Post" button (looks like this: [IMG]) and we'll take a look.

In addition, be extra careful who you deal with in our marketplace. It has been confirmed that this guy tried to scam one of our members. Also steer clear of his Ebay account (docub2012) and his Amazon store (AustinTXgoods).

    Just a suggestion....
Might want to implement a 100 post minimum (example) before any member is authorized to post in the "Marketplace" sub-forum....

Please don't do that, I only have 50 something and I want to sell my e-pl1 soon. Maybe I will start posting a lot of nonsense and then Amin will ban me ...

I'd go with a minimum amount of time as a member - it would be quite easy for a scammer to bump up a post count just by going into the lens/image sample threads and making positive comments there.

True, but it's even easier to register in advance of a spamming spree, that's what most spammers do. A requirement to have like 50 or 100 posts is a bit better. It's also easy to check those posts when you're about to deal with a person in question and see whether those posts are meaningless crap or something real.

For the time being, we're not going to have minimum posts or time for participation. Incidentally, our scammer had quite a few posts, many normal appearing and unrelated to the market, prior to attempting to scam one of our members. He also registered months in advance on two accounts and gave himself feedback in addition to citing an Ebay account with 100% feedback on a handful of nonsense transactions.

As you know, everyone's post count, post history, and join date is plain to see, so each member can decide whether such thresholds have been met before entering a transaction with someone.

I think 100 is a lot to ask, but some number of minimum isn't a bad thing.

Bump for the late morning group. I think it's likely that there is more spam to come from this fellow.

The Internet sure can bring out the worst in people. Luckily 99% of people on here don't play like that!
