Anyone own a Vostok watch? I've been checking out their Amphibian dive watches, developed for the Soviets, and I think I've been bitten by the slightly janky, super vintage Russian dive watch bug. Might have to get one (they seem quite photographable).

I have one in flight from Russia. I plan doing some mods, now I also plad taking a few pictures:)

Is it just me or is watch photography surprisingly hard? It's a small easily posed static object and yet.. getting the detail, the focus, the background, the exposure, let alone getting all the blinking dust off the thing. I find this difficult.

It doesn't help that Reza is making it look so easy.

I find it incredibly hard. I will go thru this whole topic and try to learn something.

I am having a go at product photography as a result of being old I actually did have a few nice watches but Mr.Thief took them along with everything else ,fortunately my wife was working in another state at the time so she had taken all her stuff which left me something to have a try at.
I may have posted this before but not in this forum.

A new attempt... this is SooC except for crop/resize and a slight rotation.
I used a CPL to improve contrast through the crystal.

I may have a thing for EcoDrives, as apparently I require a sport, dress, and casual
version.

Unsure how I forgot I had this watch...given how enormous it is (well over 2” wide and almost 1” thick) -

Seiko Rally Diver 6106-8229. It's about 50 years old, but runs fine.
I've been thinking about selling it, but don't want to list it on Ebay.
Any suggestions on a good place to sell watches?

Oh, that's nice! Is this a SK007, or a bit different? I'm not super well-versed on Seikos.
Thanks, this is reference # SPB151 which was a new release this year, a.k.a. Captain Willard. It's a modern reinterpretation of the watch Martin Sheen wore in the movie Apocalypse Now in his role as Captain Willard.

As seen here, from the movie, on a rubber strap.

Gotcha, that's looking familiar now. I knew the SK007 had the 4-o'clock crown, which I really like, but wasn't sure whether it had the pillow-shape case (which I also really like). Now if those SPB151 models were within my price range! Hahah.
