Walks of the Pandemic

Yippee, our first stroll on our local beach since the Lockdown began.
The BBC website said that our county council had agreed for the National Park to reopen the car parks, so that locals could visit the beaches.
As it happened, the car parks were still closed but we found a small lay-by up on the cliffs, so dropped down for a nice walk.
I won't bore you with my usual ramblings, just let you enjoy the views with us.

That's my car parked safely up on the cliff.

As you can see from the photos, the locals were few and far between.
However, this blockhead had driven 130 miles (illegally entering Wales in doing so) and had decided to park on the pebbles.
Apparently it took him a good couple of hours to extricate himself.

Nice set Brian. Some of the horizons are a bit out on some of them though ?

Nice suite of images! The landscape is so sweeping it seems unimaginable not to be able to distanced. Well except for the group of idiots.

Oh. And congrats on being able to get out!

Yes, I used my Olympus TG5 Tough camera and the screen is virtually useless in bright light, so it's often a case of point, shoot and pray.
I figured you'd all want to see the pix ASAP, so literally uploaded them within minutes of getting home.
So, please forgive me for the odd tilt in my excitement. :daz:

I hope you didn't hurt yourself falling over like that for so many pictures! ?
Not exactly sure what you mean by that Bo?
I must admit we were so thrilled to be able to get out again after so long.
Forgive my excitement and be thankful I didn't upload the other 46 photos! :rolleyes-38:

Well I thought you had been falling all over in excitement of being out again, so some of you pictures looks like you fell to your side when taking them!

Berwick Lodge, luxury hotel, purveyor of high-end wedding receptions, creams teas etc. But not right now.
We came into the garden from a neighbouring field. Only realized the gate was locked when we tried to leave through it...

My one and only “walk” of the pandemic was more of a 500+ mile road trip at the end of March. I wanted to go to a national park as my yearly pass is still current, but with Joshua Tree and Yosemite closed, it left only Death Valley as a viable option.

The drive in-

Then it was off to Badwater Basin, and I would be chased by rain and storms the rest of the day-

As I’ve been to all these places before, it was time to head off to someplace I’ve never been; Rhyolite Nevada. Some of the weirdness-

It was a much needed trip out of the house, where remaining socially distant wasn’t much of an issue.

The Sputnik inspired sign is amazing! Though I’ve seen numerous ones over the years, I’ve not seen the elements rotate. I’d love to see it at night since the neon tubes appear to be intact too.

Over the last few weeks I've been out pretty much every day. Owing to the heart attack I suffered last Sept, I have (ok my Garmin has) been setting daily steps/mileage targets to keep my fitness levels up. We're fortunate in having many miles of open fields/quiet lanes around here so I've been taking advantage of that - the fabulous weather has helped, of course. I always take a camera and sometimes Harley (our Flatcoat Retriever) with me for company...sorry there are so many images, but this is just a small selection:

Thanks for posting those Richard and glad you're keeping out and about on your road to recovery.
It's been great seeing the vastly different images in this thread and the contrasts between some of them have been truly amazing.
We'd never visited the East Coast of England until our son moved to Peterborough (and weren't too thrilled at the time).
However, we discovered some lovely places over there and if nothing else, learnt what a 'big sky' really was, as demonstrated so well in a couple of your shots.
Cheers, Brian.

These are posted on my Black Lives Matter, Albuquerque thread and a few on other threads. It was certainly a memorable Walk of the Pandemic.

The micro 4/3 camera was definitely built for those pandemic walks (or in my case cycle). I aimed for two fields nearby that would be respendent in poppies.

The first field was okay .... inundated with poppies ....

It was the second field that I hit jackpot - there may have been less light but the dusk clouds were clearing and the sky was turning dramatic:

Thanks Brian - you're most kind. We're so fortunate here with many miles of walks available from our front door, and whilst the scenery contains little real drama (certainly compared with your beautiful locality!) there is still beauty to be found. With lots of fresh air, miles of open country and a good camera at one's side there's so much to be grateful for.

Stay safe,

Richard.
