I took the dogs out for a walk this morning. We went to a local trail head and no one was there. There were scattered wild flowers here and there, the cacti had not opened for the day yet.

We had gone about .85 miles and came up a little rise, and some asshole was laying in the trail. I finally got him to move, but he slithered over to the shade and strongly suggested that we keep our 6' distance. I was not in the mood to argue with another tiny brained local, so we turned around.

The cacti blossoms had opened the second time we passed them.

Nice shots of the snake Harvey. Can I ask what the dogs make of them? Do they instinctively know to avoid them?

Thanks Phil. In the past they have been wary of the rattlesnake buzz. Today they were very hot, and the dogs don't think as well. I was able to get them to stay away, but I didn't go any closer to the rattlesnake because I didn't want them to follow.

Taste like chicken? Now that I'm walking in the desert I need to be more vigilant! ?

I really love my Kodak Cine Ektar 25/1.4! It seldom leaves my camera. Almost all I post is shot with it.

Great shots Michael. I think you should really admit that the lens stays on the camera because you have forgotten how to take it off.

I love the mixture of documentary, street, and nature of this thread. It's a great view of the times, both what I think of as relatively short term (this year with the pandemic) vs long term (baby swans above).

I've been wondering where the baby ducks were on the trail that follows my creek, I guess the adults have done a great job hiding them from me because these two are getting pretty big already - I'll have to take the 75-300 to keep from irritating the mother here:

I enjoy finding things in my photos that I didn't notice while I was taking the photo, but I wish I had spotted the turtle on the log so that I could have shifted to keep the grass from obscuring:

My impression is that the trails I use are actually calming down, with fewer people on them:

While some groups are getting together to play sports now that things have calmed down locally (remember that the telephoto is compressing their spacing):

Spring comes later and lasts into June here in CO, a month or more later than where I grew up, although it's starting to heat up:

beautiful weekend here. Went kayaking too-late so missed some decent shots to lack of light. And of course missed more good shots to lack of focus :D Here's a heron drying out after getting too wet for too small a bite (a bi off-focus):

We recently took a 45-minute drive up to Crystal Lake Recreation Area, in Angeles National Forest. It was a nice change of scenery from the typical semi-arid environment here. The area is open but the campgrounds and larger parking lots were closed. Only a few people were walking up the road to the lake.
