Last weekend’s stroll was near Derwent reservoir. Weather promised beautiful sunshine all day. Finaly, at 12:15 we got a few rays.

This isn’t particularly notable, but it was the “christening” of my Leki walking pole/monopod, a birthday present from Mrs. S!

The gate to....nowhere? I guess this was a gate to someone’s property, before they flooded the valley for the reservoir.

Great photos Steve, which brought back mixed memories.
The last time we were there was 20 years ago when our lad were at Uni.
We did a walk up to Kinder Scout but the mist came down and we could hardly see.
We got back to our son's car in the lay-by and someone had smashed one window and broken into it.
He had his sports gear and wallet stolen but the mess and intrusion was more upsetting.

We've also come across that gate, but it was locked, so we had to walk all the way round. :whistling:

Thanks Brian. I’ve avoided Kinder fairly often, tbh, it’s fairly featureless and easy to get lost on.

There are always some bar stewards around to spoil things, aren’t there. We’ve been quite lucky, I think, in that far too many times I’ve left the car unlocked when off walking for the day, but not had anything stolen (as yet! It happens so often I’ve stopped telling Mrs. S about it if I can get away with it!). Good job no-one knows I have a blue bmw regist.........only joking!

Well before the pandemic, but just a couple of kilometres from our place. Mentone beach and surf lifesaving club.

When walking around the neighborhood, most everyone was masked up and staying away from us. I was happy to make some new friends along the way. You can meet some of my new friends.

For the technically inclined, the camera was my G85 with that amazing 7-14 mm zoom. Software? Yes. Lightroom, photoshop and InDesign.

A recent pandemic walk around Tockwith airfield, near York. Disused airfields (especially those that date back to WWII) are fascinating places with an eclectic mix of buildings and worth taking the camera.

The main runway at Tockwith is still intact although parts of the airfield has been turned over to learner drivers and a gokart track:

It is the delapilated buildings around the perimeter that make great subjects:

And the very old and very ornate water tower

The original barracks are also here. During the war, a certain Captain Clark Gable (the hollywood megastar) was stationed here for a while.
So below we could easily be looking at a picture of Clark Gables home!!!

The Grand Pier at Weston Super Mare, closed to visitors whilst the beach is almost empty.

Roads through the park were closed and the fog helped us feel the correct lockdown mood.

We only need 2 metres for social distancing. This ma'am distanced herself well away from everyone.

Phil, I would crop around those gates.
Particularly, get rid of the sign from the left.
I had this thread in mind when I took that photo so I composed it with the sign in.
I did crop it out after posting

I had to go into the city during the week, so I decided to make the most of it and grab a few shots on the way through....

A few from a walk yesterday. I don't like to walk the streets when I go out for my exercise/photography, I much prefer to use the public access tracks and bridleways. Unfortunately since the pandemic hit, these places are not as appealing, at least not in my local area.

I felt this one had to go in this thread.
Taken through locked gates of St.Mary Magdalene church in Wiston, Pembrokeshire.
Even the trees have to be socially distanced now!

Sorry about the quality - this was my new Olympus Mju410, which cost me a fiver!
