beautiful weekend here. Went kayaking too-late so missed some decent shots to lack of light. And of course missed more good shots to lack of focus :D Here's a heron drying out after getting too wet for too small a bite (a bi off-focus):

and this osprey was not happy with me milling around her crib:

Hope you have a tasty (and private, if you find it tasteful) night.

We recently took a 45-minute drive up to Crystal Lake Recreation Area, in Angeles National Forest. It was a nice change of scenery from the typical semi-arid environment here. The area is open but the campgrounds and larger parking lots were closed. Only a few people were walking up the road to the lake.

Drove to take photos of a helicopter working the Sawtooth fire near Phoenix. No helicopter but 3 desert bighorn were across the wash from us.

Not great pictures but something to share...

Today's hike was 5.5 miles with 1080 feet of elevation gain. Not impressive, but it is for me since I just started hiking in February. This is the best shot I could get of the "The War of the Roses Medallion Tree". They are the remaining original growth trees IN the Sandia Mountains. This one dates to 1455 CE. The date is determined by taking a core from the tree.

Decided to do a little different walk and went to a Wyoming ghost town to explore and get fresh, cool air at 7500 ft.

A walk last weekend in Twente, The Netherlands. Restrictions have eased here so we were able to visit here from our home in Den Haag and stay in a hotel we've been coming to for 20 years. This walk was something I've done many, many times but THIS time I counted my blessings every single step of the way.

OK, who really took these and what did you do with Michael?
How can one committed to photographing the unpretty and seedy underbelly of society justify such? Instead, it should be asked, how can one justify carrying the weight of the camera when tired of photographing the backside of lens caps. Life’s a bitch!
