    Hi guys,

My GH2 is on its way with the 14-42 kit and i've been looking for the samples posted in the forum to help me choose which lens i like to buy to complete a newbie filmmaker kit, like me.

I read a lot of recommendations on the Panasonic 20mm but I have to admit that my eye was really caught by the Voigtlander 40mm f/1.4. Obviously I would prefer the 25mm version but it’s unavailable and twice the price…
Does anyone have any experience with that particular lens?

Also, was thinking about the Pana 45-200mm as a possible purchase, again mainly for video, anyone has some thoughts about it?
    Thanks,
    Avi

Maybe i've post it in the wrong forum? maybe video would've been a better choice?
    thanx

Explore your kit lens. By the time it's totally mastered, you'll know what lens suits you... and you'll have saved enough to buy it--whether the f/0.95 "Barry Lyndon Special" or Panny's 14-140.

    I have a mc Voigtlander 40mm f/1.4 and it's a great, great lens.
I use it mainly for video production and I sold my other manual focus lenses as this lens outperformed all of these: nikon 50.2, 50,8, hexanon 50.4, 40.8, and zf 50.4
    hope this helps.

The 45-200 is great - and really reasonably priced too. I got mine 2nd hand for £199.

yes, it does help, but unfortunately (or not) i already jumped on the new stock of the Pana 20/1.7 and got me one, which means that at least for the near future i'm out of budget. But i think that the Voigtlander lenses are great, and would be my next buy for sure (the 40mm or 25mm, depends on the funds available).
May i ask, which camera you use and which adaptor? also, can you please upload some kind of an example of the Voigtlander 40mm/1.4 video?

    Thanks,
    Avi

the voigtlander would be great for video. but it may be a bit long. they do have shorter focal length options available...in the 35mm 1.7 (lovely lens for stills!) and the 25 color skopar. (food for thought? yum!)

    Video sample

Hi I have a GF1 and used the Voigtlander 40 f1.4 several times for Video in Concert. I really like it.

Here is a video I've made ... Sorry It was my first use of iMovie so maybe not the best quality...
