My 10 year old cybershot is 2/3 smaller than the EPL1 and has a built-in viewfinder. It is possible to have a smaller mu4/3 with the same feature , right?

The only real limitations I can think of are sensor size and lens mount - they take up a set amount of space.

I was thinking the same thing about my Canon SD1000 just yesterday. Thing was like $120 and has a built-in EVF. Why is the cheapest ad-on for our system so outrageously expensive?

Are you sure about that? My google fu is telling me that it's a cheapo optical viewfinder that doesn't offer full coverage.
  5. How small are you prepared to have the rear screen be? i.e. Take a look at what Sony had to do to add an eye-level finder to the NEX 7.

You know - that's possible. I've only looked through it a couple times - no need for manual focus with adapted lenses on that thing ...
