Updated Olympus lens road map - 8-25mm f4, finally a pro macro, ... does it make you want to stick with Olympus?

The statement is very prosaic, and gives one confidence in continuity, but a couple of specifics would have been more encouraging.

just checked USA Febuary deals not there

Right because it is not on sale like most of the other ones. Makes me think these sell pretty well, especially during the pandemic where people might be trying to do more photography at home and in their yards...

OMG the sky is falling the 60mm macro isn't on the deals page.
I have opened another thread about the 1.2 Pro primes, especially the 17mm Pro, which was not only excluded from the recent european 2020 holiday promotion, but was also more or less delisted by a couple of dealers, including large ones like Amazon. Fast forward to 2021 and the lens is available again with most dealers, even Amazon. So it was nothing but a false alert. Even if the 60mm Macro wouldn't be available right now, it wouldn't mean it has been discontinued by OM-D.

From that page...
The lens was teased on the roadmap (without real specs)
What they really meant to write was "The lens has been teased on various roadmaps (without real specs) for 18 years now."
@apete hopefully you will have to spend the money if this unicorn is ever seen in public and we will have another great lens in the lineup... but then again you might be let off the hook. :p

I was hoping it could be 2:1, like Laowa has done. This would be so amazing.

Consider the source. It needs to post something to keep the "deals" on memory cards from running in to one another.

I said "could" & "this would be so amazing", so don't understand your tip here?

Anyway, 2:1 might not be like Laowa has, but how Olympus markets the macro magnification.

I think there is a good chance it will actually be what it says. Olympus has been hinting at a new macro lenses before and 2:1 would set it apart from a lot of other options.

I didn't even know 4:1 equivalent magnification is possible. That would be crazy.

F2.8 and IS is what I'm expecting and hoping for. I'm also hoping for similar size to 12-100mm or smaller.

8-25mm F4 is still what I want most, but if there is 100mm F2.8 announced and available in time for spring next year, it would complete my lens collection. Fast telephoto macro prime to go along with the slow UWA zoom and the slow standard zoom (12-100mm F4) would be all I need.

Yeah, Laowa 50mm for MFT has 2:1. But you can get similar with the Olympus 60mm plus Raynoxes, so no reason for me to buy that one.

This ~100mm is something I will buy if it comes, no matter if 1:1 or 2:1. It will be even better with the Raynoxes.
