Short changed with the lack of Sync IS. Did they rush development or is it price cutting in view of recent lack of developments. Too many rumours not enough facts.
Oh please. Short changed!? It's NOT a Pro lens! There was no 'rushing', for goodness sake. It was a lens 'for the masses' while the real Pro lens will be coming at the end of this year (if you can afford it). Too many rumours? Of course there are rumours, but if you are going to be influenced by the rumours then life won't be a reality for you. Part of the design concept would have been to keep the cost down & maybe using an initial Sigma optical design & adapting was one of them, along with a 'stand alone' OIS (but still allowing the camera sensor to correct for roll). This is a great standard ultrazoom lens for the Olympus Zuiko range now (something that would have been nice earlier) & then the top end Pro lens will complete it at that range (unless hankering after a bazooka bright prime lens).

Thanks missed that one.
It put the Oly offering in a better light. If the future of Olympus has any chance I may pick this one up.
I hope others confirm the sharpness of the Oly over the Panasonic version.

Looking forward to more user reviews now
Check out this review from Peter Baumgarten (corrected), cited in another thread. The images are stunning, and more so considering he had the lens only one day and was using the MC-14 teleconverter handheld. It was very convincing.
