I’ve previously taken photos of cars, but never at a car show. The only cars I have photographed, have been at the side of the road, in a parking lot, or in a field somewhere. Car shows have never appealed to me(photographically speaking) because of the, usually, large number of people and vehicles crammed together, in a relatively small area.....thus making it difficult to get a “clean” shot, without having people, chairs, or other cars in the frame.

This past weekend, I found myself driving past a car show that didn’t seem overly crowded. Well, it was late afternoon and the show was nearly over. Thus, parking was easy and plentiful, so I stopped and took a few snaps.....

Beauty pics!
What a sweet combo a pen-f and that mini zoom must be.... :)
Thank you, Charlie! It is certainly a nice and compact combo, and the vari-angle screen of the Pen-f came in handy, for these shots.

Great photos David, love the low angles ,well done.
Love the look, how'd you process these?
Stan and Joel, thank you both, for the kind words!

Joel, these images were processed on my iPad Pro. In fact, I do all my processing on an iPad, or iPad Pro. Sacrilegious, I know! I use several apps, however, for these images both Snapseed and Darkroom were used.

This video by Sean Tucker(using both of these apps) will give you a good idea, of how I process my high contrast B&W images. Btw, Sean Tucker is one of the best guys out there and well worth checking out. I HIGHLY recommend him!

Here’s the video:

Lovely series, David.
Great images, the last one is stunning, what a great print that would make. Thanks for the info on Sean Tucker and his videos, very interesting.
David -Your images are stunning in composition and presentation. B+W really makes completes the package. Now you need to visit my new digs to capture Low-riders.
Very nice images! I like the brick building as a backdrop.
Wonderful cars perfectly set in scene, David. :bravo-009:
I love the way you played with perspective, your b&w-processing and the beautiful reflections in the car paint.
Thank you, Miguel, Rod, Michael, Curt and Walter! I really appreciate all the compliments.

Yes Rod, Sean Tucker’s videos are interesting, to say the least....and quite different from the typical YouTube fare.

Michael, visiting with you and photographing Low-riders sounds like fun! Of course, any visit with you sounds like fun.

I would also like to thank whoever decided to put my Unplanned Car Show thread on the front page! It’s the first time my photos have been featured, and it took a few seconds for me to realize it was actually my car photo. Needless to say, it was a pleasant surprise.

These are great! I agree with you on how hard it is to getting clean shots of cars at a car show. It's either at the tail end of one when everyone's leaving or at the early part where no one's arrived yet.
