I picked up a copy of this lens TTArtisan 35mm f/1.4 lens recently from another member here in a trade. I haven't shot much with it, but here are a couple of snaps to show the rendering.

I realize that I didn't nail the focus in either of these images, but regardless they give some sense of the lens' rendering and bokeh. I really need to use this lens more!

I'm pretty sure these were both shot wide open at f/1.4 because I'm a sucker for that shallow DOF look.

[EDIT: disregard the EXIF info, I forgot (as ususual) to update the lens info in my Pen F.]

Just came across this thread ..... haven't used this lens much, but immediately put it on the M1 Mk11 and took a few shots. Pretty random, and light not wonderful; as it's 8.30pm here. First three f/2,8 and the last wide open. The first not as sharp on the eyes as it might be, as I couldn't remember what button I had assigned focus peaking to! And he has moved since then.

And some from when I first bought the lens .... Cornwall Park in Hastings. I can't remember what aperture I used - sorry.

Good Morning,

My order from Pergear arrived late last night; lens came through shipping fine, super-well packed. The build quality looks excellent, nice feel to the focus & aperture rings. I will be doing some walk-around shots over the weekend with this and my adapted Canon 35mm f2 LTM (from my film days with a 1960's Canon 7)...should be interesting.

Regards,

Edd

Thanks Hernan! Nice shots, especially for OOC jpegs!
F/1.4 looks quite usable.
I did see a review of this lens where the centre became quite soft at f/11. Anybody have this experience?
I remember having a Chinese 50mm lens where this happened around f/5.6 which made the lens pretty much unusable.
F/11, though, wouldn't worry me. It's an aperture I would never need to use.

Good Afternoon,

Here are a few shots with the TTartisan 35mm f1.4 and compared to my Canon 35mm f2 LTM (35mm film camera lens). Considering that copies of the Canon are running anywhere from $400.00-$600.00 USD in near to mint condition (mine is a solid 9+), the "TT" is a bargain in comparison. The Canon is marginally sharper in the center at all apertures, but the TT is sharper at f2 only at the edges. The Canon does a better job with CA in strong backlit situations. I shot these at f2 and f5.6, so hover over each photo to see which lens you're looking at and the f-stop used.

Regards,

Edd
