The manual does not say how to retract the pop up flash once it is extended using the slider switch. Is it ok to just push it down (until it clicks into retracted position maybe)?

Sorry for the trivial quesiton but I don't want to break anything on the very first day (or subsequent days, for that matter).

    Thanks in advance!

Pushing it down until it clicks is not only OK, it's absolutely mandatory if you ever want the flash to be closed again. The right way, the best way, the ONLY way!

Have fun with the camera - you probably won't break it.

Thanks, that helped! The flash is a very tame one, actually.
