Emergence by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

Emerging from one of the many tunnels we walked through along the Mimente railway as we edged closer to the Gare de Cassagnas.

Chemin de Stevenson-2018-D10-09: Day 10 of 12 – Florac to Gare de Cassagnas: Walking the Chemin de Stevenson (#GR70 Robert Louis Stevenson Trail) in the south of France.

Profile of a battered cab car. These single deck control cars have been built from existing coaches in the early nineties and were a common sight on German trains for the following ~25 years. EU regulated bidding calls for regional rail services and the followed introduction of newly built, modern EMUs and further availability of more modern double deck control cars rendered these "Wittenberger Kopf"-cars almost obsolete. Today they are a fairly rare sight, very few however are even operated by private rail companies.

In stark contrast to the above, a profile shot of an ICE 4, which is the latest high-speed EMU.

Yet another RE7 train has almost finished about two-thirds of its westbound journey. While the past two days were essentially almost summer days, today quite some wind, much lower temperatures and especially a pretty cloudy sky kicked in. As usual, the nice evening sun disappeared behind a thick layer of clouds just a few minutes prior this shot.

Ghostbuggy,

Your photos brought back fond memories of my trips from Frankfurt to Karlsruhe on the ICE, and back and forth between Baden-Baden and Stuttgart on the RE. Looking forward to getting back there to visit with family when COVID is under better control.

Regards,

Edd

My working shift is almost over, while the day for the majority of people is about to start. One of the last two daily locomotive hauled trains on RE7 line is ready for service on a foggy monday morning. With the first passangers already gathering at the station, 112 184 will soon switch over to the platform and depart for the german capital.

Quite a bummer DXO doesn't work with Fuji files as well as the X100V doesn't have any kind of stabilization. I had to crank the ISO up to 6400 in order to achieve a decent shutter speed. Maybe I could've gotten away with 1/25s or 1/20s and a slightly lower ISO, but didn't bother taking too many shots...I also should've opened the aperture a bit more. Oh well.

Old and new sitting side by side, waiting for their next assignments. For almost two decades the class 143/112 locomotives and their double deck coaches have been the dominant motive power for regional services between Berlin and Dessau. Almost ten years ago, single deck "Talent 2" EMUs took over the vast majority of trains on this line. The EMU will soon get their first redesign, including a fresh coat of paint, reassigned seating, wifi as well as improved passenger information systems.

I visited the North Yorkshire Moor Railway yesterday at Goathland Station. It would be difficult to find a more picturesque location. There is a forthcoming Mission Impossible film coming using the track at Levisham. Unfortunately one of the steam engines broke down the day before and had to be replaced by the diesel

May was for Mission impossible, June is now Indiana Jones month, at the North Yorkshire Moors railway. you will be able to see railway action in these films when they are released. Rolling stock for the Indiana Jones movie has been covered in swastikas and period markings.

I don’t think this is a train and was actually pulled by mules? I don’t know. It looks like a train, so close enough...
