We did a trip down to Lethbridge for a few days to visit the kids and on the way back we came across this steam loco at Mossleigh. It's new home is the Aspen Crossing Railway which run passenger trains during the spring/summer/fall months. The loco was arrived on Thursday having been moved by road from a park in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. There are plans for it to be overhauled and made operational again which would be nice to see.

Has anyone out west gotten any shots of the "big boy" now that it's been restored?

This was the Pyeongchang KTX train, the first year it started running, I think, 2017, taken at the Pyeongchang (Korea) station?

Rather than a train this is a railway scene, the grain elevator and Meeting Creek station in Central Alberta. The station is now a museum for the Canadian Northern Railway and the elevator is open for public viewing occasionally.

OK so not a railway photo in the traditional sense but I thought some of you railfans might be interested in checking out our May 13, 2019 CWRailman Blog USPS has a Special Stamp For Rail Fans to see the latest offering from the US Postal Office for all us rail fans.

For you railroad buffs. Photos of the "BigBoy #4014" and the "The Living Legend #844" leaving Morgan, Utah heading east to Evanston, WY. They had been to Ogden, UT for the 150th Anniversary of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad and laying of the Golden Spike celebration at Promontory Point, UT. There were huge crowds to witness their departure.

Nice capture of a historic event and nice use of the "diesel filter" to get rid of that darn diesel they had stuck behind the steam locomotives and before the passenger cars. I heard that tickets to ride the train were between $2000 and $3000. I just cannot get used to the renumbered 844. I always knew that locomotive as 8444 until the UP decided they wanted to use that number for one of their diesels. I wonder if they will ever run the Challenger with the Big Boy. Talk about assume!!

844 was her number when new. The renumbering to 8444 happened when "844" was assigned to a new GP30. After the GP30 was retired in 1989, the 8444 reverted back to 844.
