A project I that actually completed in the middle of last year during the first lockdown, it pays a fleeting homage to the iconic movie of the 80s and helps fill the void while we await the much-delayed sequel. Featuring aircraft used in each of the movies (namely the F-14 Tomcat and the F/A-18 Superhornet) these are all 1/72 diecast models, suspended with fishing line or shot on a surface sprayed with concrete texture paint, then composited with backgrounds. Afterburner and missile exhaust effects were added in post. Most of the backgrounds came from my travels or from my window seat in a plane.

I also shot the planes with some diecast sports cars, both having aerodynamics and speed in common. I used a 1/43 Lotus Esprit and a 1/18 Ferrari 308 GT.

Not particularly challenging but fun to do.

The sunset view from the aeroplane window is from my archives. I added my silhouette and a fighter jet escort outside.

These take my breath away ?

One day I'll photograph some Airfixes and if the results are a fraction as good as these, I may even post them. Probably need to binge watch Nemanja Sekulic's youtube channel first though.

Really great work as always!! I was so much intrigued by your fantastic work I …ehm… almost tried something similar with a local static model.

(after some late straight thought, I moved the photos over a new thread)
