Please somebody tell me that I am not the only one who is sick of this long winter, we are in march and here in montreal it's -15 c ( 5 F) and it will be the same for the next two weeks..:( I have bought so many lens during the winter, I can't even test them it's a shame...

Detroit's 2nd snowiest winter on record and we have an outside shot of getting to number one. Several days/nights have set new low temperature records.

Currently -14C (6F) going to -17C (0F). The local 'big box' home store is out of rock salt. For the season. Sunday I spent using the snow blower on the neighbor's walks and drives - a couple are elderly (I'm retired, not elderly. Elderly is always 5 years older than I am. ) and a couple are new residents of the U.S. who "assumed" that snow shovels would be enough hardware.

I'm not an inclement weather shooter; even driving to a local museum to shoot indoors doesn't do much for me - the drive/park/walk to the museum is miserable. I've spent quite about of time culling photo files, learning a bit more about post processing, and updating equipment.

Just this evening I glued some lens end caps together so as to be able to have lenses "back to back" in the bag, facilitating faster lens changes and avoiding having the lenses bang in together in the Domke bag. It's not shooting, but it's hobby related, anyway.

Last major snowfall here is traditionally around St. Patrick's Day (March 17th). Decent weather for shooting generally starts around May 1 (April is wet, windy, and chilly). This year I'm figuring maybe June .

    Regards,

    Jim

I had a former employer from Texas who absolutely hated warm weather. He always said "You can always put on another coat!"

I'm a hot weather guy and would live in Arizona if not for family concerns - the desert is much more amenable to me than the Great Lakes area (although it is nice to always have plenty of fresh water!). The only time I've been in Texas was when my oldest kid graduated from A&M - and there was an ice storm!!! Only half an inch or so but it shut down College Station.

I'll take the triple digit summer temps with a side order of swimmin' hole. :drinks:.

    Regards,

    Jim

-15 C is ok as long as wind isn't blowing. One thing I like about cold is the skies are completely clear. -27 is when I got one of my best shots: the air is so clear. Dawn at that temp is great. The only problem mid-day is the glare off the snow. It's hard on the eyes. I have a 4x4, so the roads have to get pretty bad to worry me.

I'd gladly tolerate -15 Celsius, here in Alberta it's been -35 to -45 Celsius for the last week and I've been able to shoot. Let me know when you want to know what cold is.lol
