I'm burning out learning LR & PS CC so don't have anything I'm really finished w/. Here a bit to get started - I exported from LR back into Aperture to post on Flickr for here. Stay tuned, more to come.

I've posted some background here: https://www.mu-43.com/threads/81128/

Went into the Tombstones to get photos of aurora w/ great mountains & lakes. Whether I'm a good photographer or not, I was a really lucky one on this trip - had aurora 6 nights out of 10. And the Kowa 8.5mm did a great job w/ aurora (& the M.Z 7-14mm wasn't shipping yet). I only wish the Kowa was f2 & wider:)

But to get into this place, we had to cross lots of this:

Have so much to learn about LR/PS that will take more time. What follows is my lengthy first crack at getting these ready for viewing. Please C&C is welcome.

The aurora shot I've already posted is from our 1st night @ Grizzly Lake. We lucked out by being able to get an additional back country permit the day before our flight to Canada. That allowed us to get in a day earlier & be ready for the best solar storms expected during our whole 10 days. This would also give me a quarter moon of foreground light to work with.

And the best/only sunset of the trip

The 1st two rock gardens above were encountered because we made a route mistake the next day while heading to another set of lakes over here. There are 3 small lakes tucked up next to the mountains.

Among the many wonders of the next couple nights, got this corona like aurora. Was able to get these in the minute of so before the lens started to fog from being pointed up.

Here's some more. We were about 2 weeks late for peak fall colors this year. This heaved up patch is a remnant of what the higher elevation tundra looks like at the peak.

Still the views down & up Grizzly creek weren't shabby.

At lower elevation along the N. Klondike & back closer to Whitehorse, trees still had most of their leaves.

Thanks much. This was the hardest pack trip I've ever done. The tough terrain, being up the 1st four nights in a row & the load needed to carry 9-10 days of food in bear canisters was pretty hard on this almost 70 year old. W/o out my sturdy (& much younger) hiking partner, couldn't have done it! At least this way.

And I'd do it again in a blink!!!!!

Had too little time to spend much time in them but the Boreal forests @ lower elevation were amazing. Next time............

@Amin Sabet@Amin Sabet I think an epic adventure like this deserves nomination for the front page.

Edit: I just realized there's a separate thread for that and I see that someone else beat me to it.

As promised I've posted a Best Of - a few duplicates. Put them on a separate thread where I don't blather on about the details - just get to the real stuff.

You're probably asking regarding the sunset photo & the silvery lake surface. No ND filter for that one or any of these. Had moderate winds w/ plenty of ripples on the water that evening. Shot this w/ exposure bracketing in hopes of being able to process 3 frames w/ exposure blending. My plan was to turn deghosting off so the water surface would have a smooth appearance. Have done this before but this time it worked better than I had hoped.
