Hosted a photowalk yesterday for a group of friends, will probably make it a monthly event. I took my EM5 and CV17.5, as well as my XE1 and XF35. Here are some of the shots from the EM5.

All of my shots from the walk can be seen here, plus shots my wife took with her 550D and 18-135mm lens: Photowalkin' - a set on Flickr

  2. Great set of images. I like the colour thing that you've got going; maybe it's due to the shooting environment. It's like the colours are muted overall yet there is still some vibrancy in the yellows and reds in particular.

    Thanks.

Taipei is gray. The buildings, the sky, the weather....all of it. There are splashes of color here and there, that helps but still. Get out of Taipei and things clear up a good deal, hit the south of the island and it is tropical with nice weather and blue skies.

It will be the grey skies. Grey skies can really make some colours "pop".

Great shots, you should make this forum a set from the Taipei train station area.

TDP strikes again!!! Making me wish I was in Taiwan again!

The more shots I see from your X-E1 the more I'm getting pulled towards it. Did you pick up the X-E1 kit or just body and 35mm lens?

Excellent images and capturing of Taiwan, next year will be transferring there for my work so I'll have a chance to take that all in!

Anywhere you would recommend for vintage camera stores area?

While there are plenty of camera shops throughout town, the camera district is on BoAi street (博愛街), south west of main station and just east of Xinmunding. Most stores sell new goods but there are quite a few that sell old used lenses and camera bodies.

Want a Canon AE-1 Program with a Canon 50mm lens? In great condition you can pick one up for 7000-8000 NTD.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I will end up in the wonderful city of Taipei for a few days starting tomorrow! Just wondering if there are good suggestions in terms of where to shoot "street photography?" I'm looking for places win lots of light from stores (non-indoors), people and street life.

Also, are people sensitive about their photos taken? Should I be concerned for security?

Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

Safety: One of the safest major cities I have ever been to. Biggest concern is getting hit by a car/scooter while crossing the street.

Photos being taken in public of the public: No problem at all. Asian culture, lots of cameras taking lots of photos.

Where to shoot street life: I would hit Main Station, head south a few blocks then west through the camera district. Cross over a main road after the camera area and you are in Xinmending - which at night is teeming with young people on the walking streets. If you want to do a night market, Taxi/Metro to Shilin Night Market (off the red line, just north of the river). That place is busy every night from about 5 pm on.
