Photo for contest "Cold"

Please find attached my entry for the photo contest.

It was taken with the GF1 + 20mm lens on a very cold and misty day.

Thanks,
Ian

Snowman

I made this snowman just before Christmas, with two neighbor girls.
I swear I had made a nice Easter-Island-esque face prior to the blonde one going "Rocky" on it.

First white Christmas in my adult life, I think!

For me this was one of those rare captures, the light and mist were just right, I had already taken 80+ photo's with my Trusty G1 + 14-45mm kit lens:2thumbs:;

Nice.
A flash photo?
Why the timer?

Is that a Leica 90mm lens? (There are also 135mm and 180mm Tele-Elmarits) How's it working out on the GF1?

Eolake, this is daylight only (from a window on a cloudy - and COLD day!).

The timer: I felt that touching the release button at slow speeds with the tripod extended may compromise sharpness. Perhaps its an automatic reaction left over from the days of mirrored bodies!

And yes, it's a 90/2.8 Tele-Elmarit. See my comments under adapted lenses. I only wish it would focus a little closer, but I am not complaining in the optical performance department.

You are quite right - but the speed in this case is 1/25 sec. And, luckily, the ice didn't slide around!...

My entry--Horses "kissing" in a snowstorm

This was taken with a Panasonic G1 and the 45-200 lens. This is a rare snowstorm in East Texas. We may get another one in a few hours.

My entry, I really should be out much more with the cold weather here in the UK - hopefully tomorrow I'll be out and about!

Wonderful pic, Brian, one of my favorites.

I can see a couple of alternative crops which might be interesting. One is just a bit off the bottom and right side, and another is further in on all sides.

I think the magic of the angels and nearby elements is stronger without the very dominating tree on the right. Hoping for your kind acceptance I've posted it here.
