After testing to day perhaps the Gx85 gets more keepers, have to retest tomorrow as I had the Gx85 set to ISO top out @ 6400 and the Gx8 @ 12,500! But it does seem that the IS on the 75-300 makes it have an 80% keepers rate, about 65% for the Gx8. While the weight is similar the 85's smaller foot print is a benefit while the sealing on the Gx8 is better for the SW. Taking only the 75-300 and 9-18 as lenses. It is very hard to decided which to take over the last 4 years each camera has been on 2 trips and each has done extremely well. The Gx85 also has great video stabilization at 4K that the Gx8 at 4K does not have.
The Gx8 is better for landscapes while the Gx85 appears it might be the best choice for animal stills and videos. Tuff choice, G9 is too big to take.
Any advice, have to minimize due to hiking and a balance issue (have to use hiking pole (Carbon Fiber, and only one).
Give me your 2 cents!
