Nice shots. We're getting some "great storms". I took this on Thursday afternoon a few minutes after 5.00 pm from my patio in Parkinson looking north west towards Inala and Darra. I got rain but I think some other areas got thunder. lightning and hail. I think it's shaping up for a nasty storm season this year.

I want to see somebody show a picture of the "thunder"! Lightning is easy in comparison!

Surely there's someone in a hangar somewhere in Roswell who can do that for you :)

thanks 350duser.. I ordered the Samyang 7.5mm fisheye so hopefully it gets here and we have a few more storms appear.

David A.. its a bit like that, the photo does not do the cloud formation justice, the scale/grandeur really had to be seen with the naked eye.. but I do love mother nature's marvelous designs.

here is another I took of some sheet lighting, (over Tweed Heads ).. bit more difficult to capture..

Was about to start a thread for this topic, but a deeper search pulled this one up. Though my first thought would have been to have it in the "Nature" forum.
Anyways, my contributions. These are composites of frames taken from video, which is nice because it gives a lot of flexibility regarding which frames you include and how you expose each one, but the obvious downside is the overall image quality is pretty low. The other advantage is of course that you get to have a video and audio of the lightning strike ;)

    lightning.
Lighting storm silhouetting the landscape as we drove through Joshua Tree National Park. I would LOVE to have gotten a proper photo of this, it was just amazing to see the pitch black horizon light up and reveal this landscape. You can see the video of it at 6:00 here. <--

    light3.
Looking out over the Grand Canyon from the South Rim, about 1/2 mile down the Bright Angel Trail. This is a composite of 3 separate strikes. The sound of the thunder echoing through the canyon was really impressive. Video and audio at 12:10 here. <--

Didn't know this thread existed. I shot my first live composite image when we saw this lightning storm on the Columbia River gorge (posted earlier in the live composite thread).

    Had forgotten about this thread.
A couple from the recent storms in Brissy. Have recently acquired the Miops trigger and used it for the first time. The second photo is taken of the same lightning strike using the trigger as in the first (different cameras). I guess i need to adjust my exposure settings. The other photos are taken using Live comp which makes the process exceedingly easy but the results just as spectacular.
