We were at Tallinn for a weekend and I thought to share some of the photos I took. Here are some facts about Tallinn from Wikipedia (sorry, I'm feeling lazy ):
"Tallinn is the capital and largest city of Estonia. It occupies an area of 159.2 km2 with a population of 418,582. It is situated on the northern coast of the country, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, 80 km south of Helsinki, east of Stockholm and west of Saint Petersburg. Tallinn's Old Town is in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is ranked as a global city and has been listed among the top 10 digital cities in the world. The city was a European Capital of Culture for 2011, along with Turku, Finland. Tallinn is the oldest capital city in Northern Europe. The city was known as Reval from the 13th century until 1917."

Tallinn has a beautiful medieval old town and many great restaurants and those two reasons were the main theme for our trip from Finland to Estonia.
It was my first time to visit Tallinn after Estonia joined the Euro currency and I think the prices have gone up a lot since the last time! Well atleast the booze is still waaaay cheaper than in Finland and that brings us Finns to Estonia in thousands every day .

All photos were taken with the E-P1 and Samyang 7.5mm, P14, P20, O45 and O40-150. Shot as RAW and PP in Lightroom 4.

The smoking room is great. I am guessing you used the 7.5mm fisheye for that?

Great series, really enjoyed it. For you as a Fin it mustn't be too difficult to at least pick up some Eesti. Do you know if people there speak English? Looks like a wonderful place for a city trip.

Nice set mate...thanks for taking us on a tour.
I think the B+W action bowling shot turned out real good as did the night shots.
The food looks excellent...I'm not sure about that list of banned artists though....
Village People = Violence ??? ...perhaps a little macho but certainly not violent.

In Estonia the Russian and central European cultures and architecture kind of come together. Yes, Finnish and Estonian languages are very alike and some words are spelled the same way but can mean a bit different things. That's why Estonian language sounds a bit silly to Finns and I think it's vice versa too. Also I've heard from a friend of mine (who has Estonian background) that in Estonia it's considered more polite to speak English than to assume people would understand Finnish, at least among younger generation. I've got an impression that people in Tallinn speak pretty well English but many of the older generation from Soviet times do speak better Russian than English.

The Russian Standard Vodka Platinum is actually a present for my brother's 30th birthday. I hope to get a little sip of that thing too once it's opened since I've never tasted it before.

I generally prefer B&W but I find that I really like the full color shots in this set!
